Louis LaPierre Passing

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Louis LaPierre. Louis died suddenly while on vacation in Mexico. Condolences have been expressed to Joan and the family on behalf of the MSGA. There are no public services planned.

Louis had been increasingly active in the MSGA and last year accepted the position of President. In the first six months of his term he’s done extraordinary organizing work. Committees are active with clear missions and 2024 events are well organized and arranged. His enthusiasm and diligence will be missed as will his warmth and good humour.

In large part, due to Louis’s efforts, all 2024 MSGA events are set and will continue as planned. More information will follow in early May.

A Letter from Louis LaPierre

The plan for our 2024 golf events is now in place. Please read the Letter from our 2024 President to find out all the details.

Chester Event Cancelled

Due to Hurricane Lee bearing down on us, it seems like we have no choice to cancel the Field Day at Chester. Because of the lateness of 5e season, we will not be rescheduling it.

Stay safe.

Chester event still on but Osprey portion cancelled.

Due to lack of participation, the Osprey Ridge field day portion of the upcoming event has been cancelled. Chester is still on but we will have to keep an eye on hurricane developments. We’ll keep you posted by email and on the website at http://www.msga.ca.

We can take a few last minute entries for Chester. Just go to Chester and Osprey Field Day Plus September 2023 to get more information and a registration form.

Another great, albeit shortened, AGM

Our PEI event was going just fine until the weather forecast told us we were due for a heavy rain on Wednesday. So President Jim White and Rodd Hotels scrambled and did some arranging for a shorter event.

On Monday, members arrived at the Rodd Brudenell resort, several of them playing a practice round on either the River Course or on Dundarave. There were informal get togethers at dinner that night at one of the resort dining rooms.

On a soggy Wednesday morning the Annual General Meeting was held after which most participants checked out early and headed home. Your hard working board members stayed on for another hour or so to ensure plans for 2024 are set in motion. They hope to have information about venues and dates available by the end of September.

On Tuesday it was Tournament day 1 with play on Dundarave. The greens made it a particularly challenging day but a thoroughly enjoyable one. AGM Golf winners At 4:30, Ron Johnston hosted the traditional wine testing event which was followed by the rescheduled banquet and awards ceremony.

Don’t forget that we have one more event this year. It’s a Field Day Plus in Chester on September the 17th and Osprey Ridge on the 18th. Play in either or both. Chester / Osprey Info & Registration

Info & Registration for the AGM is Out. Register now.

The information and registration package is not available for our Annual General Meeting to be held at the Rodd Brudenell River Resort in PEI on August 28, 29 and 30. It’s available on the 2023 Events Page
It promises to be a great event again this year. I’d encourage you to get registration information in to me as soon as possible so that we can ensure the best experience for all of our members.

The date for the guaranteed room rate has passed but at the time of writing there are a couple of rooms left which will be available on a first come, fist served basis and for a limited time. Act quickly on this one. Contact information is in the package.

Let me know if you have any questions or special needs and I’ll do my best to help you out.

I look forward to seeing everyone in PEI.
