2016 Annual Meet Wrap up
In 2016, we introduced a different format and some changes to the traditional activity schedule of the Annual Meet held at the Algonquin Resort. Monday August 29th was an optional golf day for those who wished to arrive a day early. Fifteen golfers played through the sunny but windy conditions. Following the golf, 40 members attended a Meet and Greet and 36 stayed for the Board Dinner, a new addition to the activity schedule.
The official agenda began with the first 18 holes of golf on Tuesday August 30th to accommodate those asking for a shorter stay. Also, in the afternoon non-golfers enjoyed a guided tour of the beautiful Kingsbrae Gardens. After the golf, 25 members attended the Wine & Scotch event. The addition of Scotch to the menu was well received. On Wednesday, August 31st, 17 spouses/partners were treated to a well prepared lunch and culinary demonstration while the golfers survived a few showers on the course.
Following golf, we had 62 members and guests attend the traditional Reception/Banquet. For the first time, a lady, Mona Meldrum was the MC for the event. Mona did an outstanding job and we thank her for fitting Roly Daye’s MSGA song into the agenda.
The awards presentation was highlighted by the introduction of four new Divisional Trophies, two of which were donated by Paul & Sheila Tregunno. Clearly, in 2016 the new era has continued as Debi Karrel was a repeat winner of the Championship Trophy.
